About

My name is John O’Gara. I am a New York personal injury lawyer with more than thirty years of experience representing individuals who have been injured through no fault of their own.

I was born and raised in the Bronx in an Irish immigrant family and worked in construction before attending the State University of New York at Albany and St. John’s University School of Law. I was admitted to the New York bar in 1996 and have spent my career representing injured workers, accident victims, and families in serious injury and wrongful death cases.

I focus my practice on personal injury matters in the New York metropolitan area, including construction accidents, auto accidents, premises liability, negligent security, workplace injuries involving third-party claims, assault, and wrongful death.

Legal Practice

When you are my client, you deal with me directly. I do not pass cases off to associates or case managers. From the initial consultation through resolution, I handle the case personally.

My approach is careful and practical. I focus on understanding what happened, identifying the responsible parties, and developing the evidence needed to present the case clearly and effectively. This includes early investigation, gathering records, consulting appropriate experts, and preparing each case with the expectation that it will need to be proven in court.

Over the years, this approach has resulted in settlements and verdicts totaling millions of dollars for injured clients, including cases tried to verdict and matters involving appellate work.

I am a member of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association admitted to practice law in New York State and federal courts.
